Brownfield denial

The application by Ace Golf for a Brownfield designation was denied 7-0 by our county commissioners. Thanks to our neighbors opposition

The course owner did not meet the basic criteria. This is basically a gov’t aid to help run down properties that are contaminated clean up so that the property can be rejuvenated to be useful again and add value to the neighborhood as well as add new jobs. This golf course was not dilapidated, and would have resulted in a loss of jobs rather than a gain. This money should be awarded to an area that was in need of improvement. This corporation was looking for free money to clean up contaminates that have been deemed safe as is currently. The clean up only needs to be done according to Ace Golf’s remediation company  if housing is to be built. They say otherwise it is safely contained under ground.
